YQuantum is one of Switzerland’s most exciting and fast-growing quantum hardware startups, pioneering scalable superconducting quantum technologies. Based at Park Innovaare, we work closely with leading teams at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) to combine world-class academic expertise with the speed and agility of a startup.
We’re building the next generation of quantum hardware and seeking passionate scientists and engineers to join us on our mission.
The Role
As a Quantum Research Scientist, you’ll work on both cleanroom fabrication and low-temperature quantum measurements of superconducting quantum devices. You’ll bridge design and experiment, driving improvements that directly impact the performance and scalability of our quantum devices.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate superconducting microwave circuits in one of Switzerland’s most advanced cleanrooms at Park Innovaare PSI.
Develop and optimize fabrication recipes (lithography, deposition, etching, surface treatments).
Build, operate, and maintain cryogenic measurement systems for advanced microwave measurements.
Analyze data, identify performance limits, and collaborate with design and theory teams to drive improvements.
Must-Have Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
2+ years of experience in cleanroom micro/nanofabrication and metrology.
Ideal Qualifications
Hands-on background in quantum measurements and cryogenic systems.
Experience with superconducting qubits or similar quantum devices.
Skilled in data analysis and scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
Familiar with microwave engineering and measurement equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, …).
What We Offer
The opportunity to shape the future of quantum hardware at a leading Swiss startup.
A fast-moving, collaborative environment where your work has immediate impact.
Partnership with world-leading researchers at PSI and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
A culture built on creativity, ownership, and technical excellence.
Located just outside of Zurich, one of the world’s most vibrant and inspiring cities.
Competitive salary, benefits, and potential equity participation.
How to apply
If you’re excited to push the boundaries of quantum hardware, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your CV, a brief cover letter, and any relevant publications or project links directly to info@yquantum.ch with the subject line: Quantum Research Scientist Application – Your Name.
