C12 develops a reliable & application-specific quantum computer, to solve highly complex computing tasks, currently out of reach of the most powerful supercomputers. Building a quantum computer still needs innovators ready to tackle exciting challenges. C12 founders are convinced that only a new material for the qubit will bring a technological breakthrough. C12 uniquely uses carbon nanotubes (CNT) as the fundamental building blocks of its quantum processor. This high-purity material minimizes errors, radically improves performance and reduces hardware overhead for fault-tolerant computing. Combined with well-established semiconductor techniques, carbon nanotubes will help scale quantum computing, just as silicon revolutionized classical computing. Founded in 2020, C12 is a fast-growing start-up, having raised a seed round of USD 10 million in June 2021 and building its own lab in the heart of Paris (Panthéon). Your role at C12 We are looking for a nanofabrication engineer for the fabrication of electronic circuits chips in our cleanroom. These printed circuits enable the control & read-out of our qubits and include superconducting resonators as well as superconducting & magnetic gate electrodes. Your job will involve: - The nanofabrication of chips - The calibration of the tools and the monitoring of this calibration (dry etch, e-beam) by using metrology tools (AFM, SEM) - Helping to create, develop and maintain process documentation - Identifying potential limiting factors to quality and repeatability of the nanofabrication process - Designing and implementing procedures/tools to enhance throughput - Taking care of the regular maintenance of the clean room’s main equipment (e-beam, evaporator, SEM, etc.) with the help of the lab manager As part of the nanofabrication team, you will have interactions with the quantum device design teams to improve overall circuit performance. About you - Master or Ph.D. in Physics, Experimental Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanotechnology, Nanoscience or a related field - Previous experience (> 6 months) performing multi-step nanofabrication autonomously in a clean room with the following processes or tools: - Dry etch (required) - Wet processes (cleaning, resist spinning and wet etch) (required) - Metrology tools (SEM, AFM) (required) - Metal evaporation (desirable) - Wafer dicing (desirable) - Wafer-scale and photolithography experiences (advantage) - Electron-beam lithography of precisely defined sub-micron features (advantage) - Meticulous attention to detail - Good English language and written skills You should join us if... - You want to contribute to achieve landmark results in quantum computing, making a difference in the emerging quantum technologies - You want to work within a 26-people team with various backgrounds in nanofabrication, quantum electronics, and carbon nanotube science to create a revolutionary quantum computing processor - You want to thrive in a exceptional scientific environment with several industrial and academic partners - You relate to our values (excellence, scientific integrity, diversity, curiosity, and care) and want to help us define our product-focus culture and ambition to accelerate
