Enabling Technology
The goal of the project is to develop a universal Quantum Photonic Integrated Circuit (QPIC) platform operating at 1550nm. This will be achieved by integrating Indium Phosphide (InP), Quantum Dots, and Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) detectors onto Silicon Nitride (SiN) Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for the first time. This innovative platform holds the potential to revolutionize quantum photonics by facilitating the generation of on-demand single photons and entangled photon pairs, alongside efficient single photon detection capabilities.
Central to the success of this platform is its compatibility with existing optical fiber networks, rendering it a cost-effective solution for various applications in quantum communication, computing, and quantum metrology. The project aims to demonstrate the versatility of the QPIC platform through three distinct use cases: Quantum Key Distribution, Remote Quantum Computing, and Quantum Clock Synchronization experiments.
