In the year 2021, the Quantum Flagship set out ambitious Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate the progress of quantum technologies in Europe. The second set of measured KPI values can now be made available.
The KPIs, together with their target values for 2030, were created in early 2021 by an expert task force on the Flagship’s Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) and approved by the European Commission.
To monitor development, the KPI values are measured annually. A newly updated document reveals the set of values for 2022. They were obtained via a survey of the SAB, the Quantum Coordination Board (QCB) and the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC).
After the baseline established by the 2021 set of KPI values, this update highlights the European quantum community’s progress, showcased by the number of values determined to be ahead of or on schedule. Annual monitoring of KPI values is also essential for discerning and focusing on areas in which progress is needed, allowing for the European quantum ecosystem to thrive as a whole.
