The Experimental Quantum Optics group is a research group working on structured single photons to study novel quantum effects and high-dimensional quantum information schemes. We also develop and implement novel light-matter interactions in the quantum regime, thereby combining findings from nonlinear optics, quantum plasmonics, photonics, and quantum optics. For our latest project, we are now searching for a motivated postdoc to work on fundamental aspects and possible applications of structured light in free space and integrated waveguide systems. *As an employer we are committed to promoting diversity within our team and would like to encourage all interested applicants, irrespective of their backgrounds to apply* We are looking for a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to carry out quantum photonics research, where we aim at studying quantum phenomena of single and multi-photon quantum states encoded in polarization and the spatiotemporal domain, i.e., invoking all degrees of freedom of light. In addition, we also encourage and support the candidate in implementing the candidate’s own ideas and contribute to ongoing quantum optics experiments to establish your own independent high-level research profile. Besides performing research on the highest level, the position will provide the opportunity to work in a diverse research group, which is embedded in a highly active research infrastructure. If you are interested in working in a young research group (est. 2019), establishing a novel branch of atom optics research in newly equipped laboratories, working with very talented students, and in an open stimulating research environment, we are happy to receive your application. - Requirements: Candidates must hold an internationally recognized PhD degree (or have the PhD defense scheduled very soon) in quantum optics or photonics. Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential. Knowledge in programming languages, e.g., Matlab, Pytyhon, Labview, or similar are highly appreciated. Expertise in the quantum information theory and quantum foundations are advantageous. The candidate should further like to work in an international, collaborative research group, enjoy working with colleagues (national & international) and help in supervising Bachelor, Master, or PhD students and teaching tasks. -What we offer: The Postdoctoral position will be offered for 2 year with a possibility of extension and can be filled immediately. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The position of a Postdoctoral Researcher is placed on the job demands level 5-6 (teaching and research staff). A typical starting salary of Postdoctoral Researcher is around 3500 EUR/month. We offer a wide range of staff benefits, such as occupational health care, flexible working hours, excellent sports facilities on campus and several restaurants and cafés on campus with staff discounts. Please read more about working at Tampere University. The group is embedded into a strong research hub at the Tampere University, Finland, with activities ranging from nanofabrication, nonlinear and theoretical optics, metamaterials, and laser developments. Tampere University also leads the Photonics Flagship initiative PREIN of the Academy of Finland. Hence, our research takes place in a world-leading research institution with collaborations within a large network of experts across the world. - more information on the group: https://research.tuni.fi/eqo/ - more information on the job offer: https://research.tuni.fi/eqo/news/new-postdoc-opening/
