QuiX Quantum is at the forefront of the development of photonic quantum computing, a rapidly developing sector. We are a tech start-up based in Enschede, the Netherlands. Since our start in 2019, we have presented two world record-breaking quantum photonic processors. As a fast-growing company, we are now looking for a new leader for our in-house quantum architecture team. What will you be doing? As head of architecture, you will lead a team connecting the abstract idea of quantum computing to the practice of photonic quantum computing. Integrating everything from quantum error correcting codes to the specifications of physical components, you will lead the design of QuiX’s quantum computer. The team will use theoretical or numerical methods to propose solutions or alternatives to overcome the technological hurdles presented by the architecture. Your technical expertise will be in full use as you lead and train your team. You will take care of: · Leading the development of our quantum computing architecture · Identify critical architectural challenges · Lead theoretical, numerical, and experimental efforts to further development · Implement a suitable error correction scheme for our universal quantum computer · Attend international conferences representing QuiX · Run team meetings and manage a team of quantum architects · Report directly to the CTO, and be part of the management team of the company. This position can be modified to suit a candidate, and mentorship and training are available for leadership skills. What we ask of you: · PhD or equivalent in Quantum Physics, Quantum Computing, or similar · Some experience leading teams, managing PhD students, etc. preferred · Post-doctoral research experience (industrial or academic) a plus · Specific experience in quantum architecture or quantum computer design required · Strong mathematical/theoretical background is a plus · Passion for your profession · Pro-active, innovative style of work and leadership · Proficiency in English language (verbal & written) What to expect from us: Working in a start-up means that your work contributes directly to the direction of the company, and you more than most as a senior member of the team.
