The Department of University Service Facility for Transmission Electron Microscopy (USTEM) has a vacancy for a Senior Scientist (all genders), expected to start in October 2023 (40 hours per week, limited for 2 years, with an option for permanent employment) with the following responsibilities.
Tasks:
Independent research work in the field of electron microscopy
Set-up and realization of experiments in the field of quantum electron microscopy
Set-up and realization of experiments in the field of ultra-fast electron microscopy
Independent teaching of courses and holding of examinations as well as supervision of students
The ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their realization and evaluation and the willingness to manage projects or working groups
Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the research division and the faculty
Your profile:
Completion of an appropriate doctorate in the field of physics or equivalent university studies
Knowledge of scientific work as well as excellent specialist knowledge in electron microscopy and/or in-depth knowledge of quantum optics
Interdisciplinary work
Experience in teaching and publication activities as well as interest and pleasure in research and work/support with students
Organisational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
Excellent knowledge of English, and preferably (not required) good knowledge of German
Team competences
Eagerness to learn and develop skills related to the repair and customization of advanced TEM systems is highly desirable.
