Apply for this jobThe position of PhD student is available at the group of Quantum Sensing at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany). The project is related to the sensing of magnetic field and temperature by color centers (nitrogen-vacancy and silicon-vacancy) in diamond and nanodiamonds for intracellular applications. The focus will be on the development of novel measurement protocols. The main area of the project is physics in collaboration with chemistry and biology groups. This work covers many experimental techniques such as confocal and wide-field microscopy, single spin magnetic resonance techniques, spin relaxometry as well as cleanroom methods for the samples preparation such as photolithography. The Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research provides a friendly multidisciplinary environment for productive research activity. The position is funded within the NEXUS program by Carl Zeiss Foundation (Quantum sensors for cellular metabolism study). Your profile: o Master or Diploma in Physics, ideally with a focus on quantum, solid-state, atomic, or laser physics or optics. o Experience in experimental research is an asset o Knowledge of programming (Python or Labview) o Data analysis (Matlab, Origin, Python, Mathematica, etc.) o Participation in scientific conferences and/or paper writing is an asset o Logical thinking, problem-solving, open-mindedness, self-motivation, teamwork We offer: Funded position for at least 3 years. Salary according to TV-L E-13 65% (with all insurances).
