Apply for this job

The quantum information theory group of Dagmar Bruss at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Duesseldorf (Germany) is inviting applications for 2 postdoctoral positions and 3 PhD positions. Some of the positions are BMBF-funded via cooperative research projects (QSolid, QuKuK). The successful candidates will collaborate with national and international partners. The specific research aims are as follows: 1) Postdoc on quantum resources for quantum computing: the successful candidate will work on scalability, quantum error correction, and quantum resource theories. 2) Postdoc on QKD in quantum networks: the successful candidate will work on quantum networks and quantum correlations, with a particular focus on secure communication and QKD. 3) PhD position on QKD in quantum networks: the successful candidate will work on quantum networks and quantum correlations, with a particular focus on secure communication and QKD (jointly with the above postdoc). 4) PhD position on quantum information theory: research topics include resource theories, measurement theory, and entanglement theory. 5) PhD position on security analysis for applied QKD: the successful candidate will investigate the security of concrete QKD-implementations, i.e. taking into account statistical and trusted systematical errors in a finite-key scenario. Applicants for the postdoctoral positions need to have prior research experience in quantum information theory. Experience in the specified research area is desirable. Candidates should send a full CV including certificates and a list of publications to quantuminfo@uni-duesseldorf.de Please specify clearly for which position you are applying. (Further information on the positions is available upon request.) Please include electronic contact details of two referees. Deadline is September 9th 2022. Later applications will be considered in case the positions will not have been filled.
