The European Commission (DG CNECT) is organising an online workshop on Quantum Software and Quantum Utility, which will take place on 5 November from 15:30 to 18:00 CET. The event will bring together leading stakeholders from research, industry, and policy to discuss Europe’s roadmap toward fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC) and the achievement of quantum utility by 2030–2032.
Organised in the spirit of the recently launched Quantum Europe Strategy and in light of the upcoming Quantum Act and the implementation of the EU Quantum Computing and Simulation Roadmap, the workshop aims to ensure alignment between technological development and broader EU-level initiatives in quantum technologies. The discussions will focus on a three-phase trajectory from today’s NISQ systems to early FTQC prototypes and ultimately to fully error-corrected quantum computing, addressing software development, HPC integration, and industrial applications.
Through stakeholder presentations and strategic dialogue, the workshop aims to define the concrete steps and collaborations needed for Europe to lead the transition to the fault-tolerant era, strengthening technological sovereignty and industrial competitiveness in the global quantum landscape.
