Postdoc positions at LMU Munich

LMU Munich

We are offering multiple postdoctoral positions to well-qualified, highly motivated, and dynamic young scientists who wish to enhance their scientific career in a stimulating environment. The successful candidates will be joining the group led by Christian Schilling which is part of the Chair of Theoretical Physics -- Quantum Matter together with Ulrich Schollwöck, Lode Pollet and Fabian Grusdt. The research of our group is concerned with the interface of Quantum Information Theory and Quantum Many-Body Physics. We resort to analytic approaches partly complemented by computational studies to gain universal insights into interacting quantum many-body systems. A particular emphasis lies on the concept of reduced density matrices and the ground state problem. Applications are welcomed for the following related long-term research programs: P1: Tensor network methods for quantum chemistry P2: Foundation of quantum computing: fermionic systems P3: Quantum information theory for fermions P4: Foundation of functional theories & N-representability problem The offered positions are related to the cluster of excellence ``Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology’’ https://www.mcqst.de/about/members/christian-schilling.html and are funded through the Munich Quantum Valley https://www.munich-quantum-valley.de/ and the German research foundation https://gepris.dfg.de/gepris/projekt/414324924?language=en Various postdoc positions are initially for 2 years. Application deadline: 31 May 2022 Starting date: flexible For further information on the research programs and the application process please see: https://www.theorie.physik.uni-muenchen.de/lsschollwoeck/schilling_group/index.html
