The European project High-Performance Computer and Quantum Simulator hybrid (HPCQS) has announced a significant milestone in hybrid comptuing. Two quantum computers, each with over 100 qubits, are being delivered to project partners in France (GENCI/CEA) and Germany (FZ Jülich), where they will be coupled with the Joliot-Curie and JURECA DC supercomputers respectively.
The quantum computers are being delivered by French company PASQAL, and mark some of the first building blocks of the EuroHPC-QCS infrastructure which will see six further quantum computers hosted at supercomputing sites also in Czechia, Poland, Spain and Italy.
