On October 6th, 2022, the European Commission and Canada announced the support of three joint projects on quantum (see below), as a result of the EU-Canada joint call on quantum technologies launched in June 2021, supported by the EU Quantum Flagship through the Coordinated and Support Action (CSA) InCoQFlag.
The CSA organized two workshops and a networking session to support this joint call and researchers from Europe and Canada.
Those projects illustrate the collaboration between the European Union and Canada on research and innovation, especially quantum. The three projects are cofunded by the EU Quantum Flagship under Horizon Europe and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), for a total of €4 million euros from the EU and CAD$5 million from Canada.

Canada is one of the most non-European country that collaborate with Europe. This joint call on quantum is one of many steps that led Canada to express formal interest to associate with Horizon Europe. Negotiations for association are ongoing.
