About the role 

As a Quantum Error Correction Researcher at Riverlane, you will help us to develop the world’s first Quantum Error Correction (QEC) stack that will unlock useful quantum computing.  

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Riverlane’s more theory-focused quantum error correction teams, which works to understand how future large-scale error-corrected calculations will be run on quantum computing hardware. This team is a mix of mathematicians, physicists and software developers, working together on a range of exciting and cutting-edge projects.  

 Collaborating extensively with other teams within Riverlane, as well as with world-leading external partners, this critical work will directly contribute to Riverlane’s Quantum Error Correction Stack. 

 

What you will do 

  • Explore existing and develop new QEC protocols 
  • Work with hardware partners to propose and optimise QEC experiments 
  • Write code to test scientific ideas and contribute to software-focused products 
  • Share expertise and collaborate with other teams at Riverlane to guide development of various parts of the QEC stack 
  • Write papers and present work at conferences 

Requirements

What we need 

  • PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience) 
  • Proven ability to undertake high-quality theoretical work (for example, through publications) 
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex ideas with a variety of audiences in a clear and simple way 

 

Even better if you have… 

  • Experience driving the direction of scientific work 
  • Experience in quantum computing 
  • Knowledge of QEC 
  • Knowledge of Python and/or C++
