About
Riverlane’s Bertha Swirles Quantum Computing Workshop is dedicated to empower women to explore careers in quantum. Named after Bertha Swirles, a pioneering physicist known for her contributions to early quantum mechanics, this workshop aims to address the gender imbalance in the quantum industry by providing a foundation of knowledge, tools and a supportive network for women to discover quantum computing.
Are you an undergraduate or recent graduate in Physics, Computer Science, or Maths? Fascinated by quantum computing, but aren’t sure where to start? Curious to find out more about what it takes to work in quantum computing?
Brought to you by Riverlane, the world leaders in Quantum Error Correction (QEC), our Bertha Swirles Quantum Computing Workshop will teach you what it takes to implement QEC and why it is so critical to enabling reliable quantum computing. By providing education, mentorship, and networking opportunities, this workshop not only enhances individual capabilities, but also contributes to the broader goal of achieving gender parity in quantum.
Riverlane’s Bertha Swirles Quantum Computing Workshop: Empowering Women
- Dates: Monday 9th September – Friday 13th September 2024
- Location: Riverlane HQ, Cambridge, UK
- For: Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics undergraduates/recent grads
Why Quantum Computing?
By teaching fundamental quantum computing concepts, including QEC and decoding, Riverlane’s workshop will equip you with the cutting-edge knowledge and skills needed to build a foundation in quantum computing.
From climate change to healthcare, large and reliable quantum computers will help solve some of the world’s most important challenges. Riverlane is building the quantum error correction stack to make this happen. It’s a complex problem that requires a range of skills, talent and passion.
Workshop Highlights:
- Expert-led Sessions: Learn from our world-class quantum scientists, engineers and product specialists. Cutting-edge topics will include quantum error correction, repetition code, decoders and circuits with gates.
- Hands-On Experience: We’ll teach you the theory, as well as giving you the chance to see a real device in action and put your new skills into practice! ?Critical Skills: Learn how to read and summarise a scientific paper like a pro, boost your confidence by honing your presentation skills and get to know your Big O Notation from your Logical Error Probability!
- Team Hackathon Challenge: Put your skills to the test!
- Networking Opportunities: Plenty of opportunity to connect with professionals and peers, building a network to support your quantum journey.
- Career Pathways: Discover the many career opportunities in quantum computing at Riverlane and get guidance on our internship and graduate schemes and what it takes to succeed at Riverlane.
