ICFO is offering postdoctoral positions to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientists who wish to enhance their scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidates will be joining the Optoelectronics group led by Prof. Dr. Valerio Pruneri.
The group has experience in the study and development of new advanced materials, devices and systems for information and communication technologies, in particular displays, image sensors and secure communications. The main drive of the group is to carry out applied research which bridges academia and industry, by developing fundamental ideas with great potential for revolutionizing future photonic products.
The candidates will work on projects related to classical and quantum photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and must have experience on the topic (design, simulation, characterization or packaging of PICs). The aim of the work will be the development of next generation PIC based technologies, ranging from classical photonic processing to quantum communication, sensing, and metrology. On-chip quantum key distribution transmitters, entangled pair sources and single photon sources are also important topics in the group.
The group is currently involved in several European projects.
This project funded by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033 and by the “European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR" PCI2022-132954 within the QuantERA II Programme that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Physics, Photonics or Engineering.
The candidate should have a proven track record in one or more of the following:
Experience in one or more of the following:
- PIC design
- PIC simulation
- PIC fabrication
- PIC characterization
- PIC packaging
Good level of research independence and project management are expected.
Experience in integrated quantum photonics adds value to the application.
ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
Salaries for ICFO Postdoctoral positions are assigned by the Selection Committee, based on experience and seniority of the applicant, as well as the assigned tasks and responsibilities within the group. Standard salaries range from a lower level aligned with national Ramon-y-Cajal fellowships to higher levels aligned with Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowships.
The contract is offered for a period of 1 year, renewable.
Additionally, a family allowance is also available on request and after corresponding approval for people with family charges in the terms described in the corresponding policy.
How to apply
Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
- Curriculum Vitae, including contact details,
- The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
Candidates will be assessed as they apply and the call will remain open until the suitable candidate is identified.
Candidates may contact jobs@icfo.eu for formal enquiries regarding the application, as well as address scientific enquiries to Valerio.Pruneri@icfo.eu.
