ICFO is offering postdoctoral researcher and research engineer positions to well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientists who wishes to enhance their scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment. The successful candidates will be joining the Optoelectronics group led by Prof. Dr. Valerio Pruneri. The group has experience in the study and developing of new advanced materials, devices and systems for information and communication technologies, in particular displays, image sensors and cybersecurity. The main driving is to carry out research which bridges academia and industry, by developing fundamental ideas with great potential for revolutionizing future photonic products. Please access https://www.icfo.eu/lang/research/groups/groups-details?group_id=28, for detailed information. The candidates will work on projects aimed at building the next generation of quantum cryptography and entanglement distribution systems. The hosting group has developed technology for continuous variable quantum key distribution and quantum random number generation, now being commercialized by two ICFO’s spin-offs, Luxquanta and Quside, respectively. The next step is to develop entanglement and decoy state based systems for secure communication and quantum connections for both ground and space segments. The group is currently involved in several European projects, including CiViQ, QRANGE, QUANGO and openQKD. Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Master-degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering. The candidate should have a strong interest for developing fundamental concepts up to the level of prototyping and potential products for the industry. Preferably should have experience in at least one of the following areas: - quantum physics - quantum communication - quantum cryptography - nonlinear effects and entanglement generation - optical fibre communciation - free space communication - signal processing (post-processing) - software interfaces ICFO is an equal employment opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions of persons with disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. Contract will be offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to 2 years.
