Experimental realization of microwave quantum token with quantum memory based on rare earth spin ensembles
Walther-Meißner-Institut
Apply for this jobThe project is funded by Federal Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF) within the “Grand challenge of quantum communication” call (project QuaMToMe) and aims for the demonstration of the generation and storage of microwave quantum tokens in spin ensemble quantum memories. The positions are situated in a multidisciplinary collaboration between the partners within the WMI institute. Specifically, we look for strengthening our team working on the rare earth spin ensembles and establishing experimental cryogenic environment to address the rare earth spins. Your tasks will include building the cryogenic measurement setups, programming the experimental schemes, and finally joining both a quantum experiment on storage and retrieval of microwave photons. Your work is embedded into the quantum technology efforts formed by the WMI, the Excellence Cluster MCQST (https://www.mcqst.de/) and the Technical University of Munich (https://www.tum.de/). The positions are available from now until filled. The employment duration is limited by 31.10.2024 . Salary is within the TV-L pay grade. You hold a degree in physics or a similar field of study with a solid background in solid state and low temperature physics, quantum information, quantum communication, or quantum sensing. Application documents should include your CV, relevant transcripts, such as grade reports (master, bachelor, or diploma) and certificates, and a brief cover letter explaining your motivation. Please send the documents as a single PDF file to Nadezhda Kukharchyk (nadezhda.kukharchyk@wmi.badw.de, please mention the code “2022-QuaMToMe-02” in the subject).
