The Societat Catalana de Física and the Institut Menorquí d’Estudis organize another edition of the Trobades Científiques de la Mediterrània – Josep Miquel Vidal with the support of ICFO, GIQ-UAB and Catalonia Quantum Academy.

Its main goal is to provide a framework for knowledge exchange on a current topic in the Mediterranean area. In addition to constituting a scientific forum, these meetings contribute to facilitating the relationship and communication between scientists and technicians from the immediate surroundings.

The 40th edition of the meeting is devoted to the presentation of recent advances in quantum science and technologies. While the event focuses on research by groups working in the Mediterranean area, it is open to any researcher interested in the field, who will find opportunities to exchange results and ideas in a nice and open environment.

Participating institutions:

GIQ - The Quantum Information Group at the University Autonoma of Barcelona is one of the largest groups of Quantum Information in Spain. GIQ has proven expertise in many areas of Quantum Information, and is a first-level, interdisciplinary group with worldwide recognition in a wide range of subjects: quantum information theory, quantum Shannon and communication theory, quantum statistical inference, entanglement and other quantum resource theories, quantum thermometry, ultra-cold atoms and quantum simulators.

ICFO – The Institute of Photonics Sciences, located in Castelldefels (Barcelona, Spain) is a young research institution that aims to advance the very limits of the science and technology of light, tackling important challenges faced by society at large in all areas of life, including health, energy, information, safety, security and caring for the environment. ICFO is a member of BIST, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, and is situated in Castelldefels, a small town located by the sea just outside of Barcelona. More information about ICFO can be found here

IME – The Institut Menorquí d'Estudis is a research institution based in Menorca, Spain. They conduct interdisciplinary research on Menorca’s culture, history, and natural environment. It supports scientific studies in fields like archaeology, linguistics, ecology, and social sciences. The IME fosters knowledge production relevant to Menorca’s identity and sustainability. More information about IME can be found here.
