The European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC) is the international conference of the European Quantum Flagship initiative, which collaboratively advances quantum technologies and places Europe at the forefront of the second quantum revolution, bringing transformative advances to science, industry and society. EQTC 2020 will be held in Dublin (Ireland) on 23-27 November 2020, the second annual European Quantum Technologies Conference after the first at Grenoble in February 2019.
EQTC 2020 will provide full coverage of the most prominent and recent advances in European and International quantum technology activities across basic sciences, communication, computing, simulation and sensing/metrology.
The conference programme addresses a wide range of topics in quantum technologies including fundamental science, infrastructure development, industry engagements, education & training, encouraging and facilitating gender balance in the quantum community, international cooperation, and policy-making. It will provide a forum to highlight the state-of-the-art in quantum technologies both in Europe and from around the world.
EQTC 2020 will also provide a full update on the European Quantum Flagship initiative, strategies and opportunities including reports from and discussions with the Strategic Research Agenda, Innovation, and Education Working Groups of the Quantum Flagship. It will provide networking opportunities for the European and International academic and industrial quantum technologies communities, whilst also promoting other issues such as communication of quantum technologies towards the general public.

Qombs makes major advances in high performance quantum cascade laser frequency combs
QOMBS project partner Alpes Lasers has demonstrated high-performance quantum cascade laser frequency combs at λ ∼ 6 μm for the first time. This new wavelength is important because it corresponds to the amide I vibration band of proteins, opening up numerous new biological and medical applications.

New software brings quantum network design to users around the world
NetSquid, a specialized simulator for quantum networks has been made freely available for non-commercial users. In development by QuTech since 2017, the software is the first of its kind to model timing effects using discrete events. NetSquid allows researchers around the world to accurately predict the performance of quantum networks and modular quantum computing systems. Such simulations are essential to design scalable quantum systems and exploit them for radically new types of computation and communication technologies.
