The European Commission has opened a dedicated consultation on the future activities of the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure — EuroQCI. The consultation is open from 26 May to 24 June 2026 and will help shape the next phase of EuroQCI activities to be supported by the European Commission from 2027 onwards.
EuroQCI is one of Europe’s flagship efforts to build a secure quantum communication infrastructure spanning the whole EU, including its overseas territories. It combines terrestrial fibre-based networks with a future space segment, safeguarding sensitive data and critical infrastructures through quantum-based security technologies.
This consultation is a key opportunity for the quantum community to contribute directly to Europe’s strategic direction in quantum communications. Researchers, academics, technology developers, cybersecurity specialists and other experts are strongly encouraged to share their views, technical insights and priorities. Your input can help ensure that future EuroQCI activities reflect the latest scientific advances, emerging use cases, standardisation needs and the real-world challenges faced by the European quantum ecosystem.
By participating, experts can help shape how EuroQCI evolves in the years ahead — from research and innovation priorities to deployment needs, interoperability, certification, industrial uptake and the long-term security of Europe’s digital infrastructure.
