Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions at the IFISC (Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems). IFISC (UIB-CSIC) was selected in 2018 as a “Unit of Excellence” María de Maeztu. It is a member of the SOMMa alliance, which brings together the cutting-edge research centres and units in Spain. See https://ifisc.uib-csic.es
The offered postodoctoral positions are associated to different projects:
-One+one year post-doctoral position associated to the Maria de Maeztu Unit of Excellence in lines L2 and L3 (see https://ifisc.uib-csic.es/en/about-ifisc/join-us/junior-postdoc-mdm-2020).
-One year post-doctoral position associated to the project ‘Quantum machine learning with reservoir computing’, working with Roberta Zambrini and Miguel C. Soriano.
The candidate should hold a PhD and have experience in two of the following topics:
– quantum machine learning
– quantum networks
– reservoir computing
– quantum computing
Contracts starting preferably between September and December 2020. The estimated gross annual salary is 30000€. These contracts include all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security system and have associated additional financial support for the participation in conferences and scientific meetings.
The appointed post-docs will focus on the systematic exploration of different implementations of quantum reservoir computing both with qubits and continuous variables to address their capability and to establish the possibility of a quantum advantage in the context of noisy intermediate-scale quantum computing (NISQ).
How to apply
Interested candidates should send the following information by 30/06/2020 to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org: - Curriculum vitae - Date of PhD degree or expected date for the thesis defense - Brief proposal (maximum 1 page) including (i) Letter of motivation to work at IFISC, (ii) Research interests. - Name of two senior scientists who can act as references - For Spanish citizens or foreigners who are residents in Spanish territory: copy of a valid identity document.
