The ITP pursues research in a wide range of topics including: Basic science of quantum information theory, notably resource theories of entanglement, coherence and thermodynamics as well as efficient verification and tomography and quantum metrology.
Quantum Technologies, notably the use of colour centers for quantum simulation, computation and communication as well the application of such technologies as sensors in the biomedical sciences. Furthermore, we pursue the use of these system for the generaton of nuclear hyperpolarisation and their applications in medical imaging. We also pursue quantum technologies in trapped ions and cavity QED.
Quantum biology, that is the exploration of the role of quantum dynamics for the processes of life, including the study of electron-vibrational dynamics, noise assisted quantum dynamics and the design of enhanced physical measurement technologies.
