University of Basel - Quantum Optics and Atomic Physics
The Quantum Optics and Atomic Physics laboratory at the University of Basel focuses on the quantum physics of atoms, photons and phonons and their application in quantum metrology and quantum information processing. In our experiments we explore quantum metrology and sensing with non-classical states of atomic ensembles, develop novel quantum imaging devices for electromagnetic fields, and investigate quantum interfaces between atoms and solid-state nanosystems such as mechanical oscillators and semiconductor quantum dots for use in quantum networking tasks. Our research combines experiment with theory and involves collaborations with other academic groups, research and technology organizations and industry partners.
