Quantum Technology

The PTB performs world-leading quantum metrology and quantum sensors research. The research covers optical atomic clocks, time and frequency distribution, electrical quantum metrology, quantum computers, measurement of small magnetic fields and single photon detectors and sources relevant for quantum communication. The PTB is also tasked with the support of German industry in the field of metrology and measurement for quantum technology.
The newly-founded German Competence Centre for Quantum Technology at PTB will provide access to PTB’s broad expertise in quantum technology for industrial and academic partners. It will focus onto development and transfer of technology addressing the following fields: 1. components and technology, 2. calibration and services, 3. user-facilities, and 4. training, support for start-ups and public relations.
