Job Description
Miraex is looking for an enthusiastic Quantum Engineer (Theory) to join us on our mission to bring quantum computers to the necessary scale for real-life, practical applications. To enable this, we are building quantum integrated circuits that bridge the gap between the world of microwave photons and optical photons. These quantum-coherent, bidirectional transducers provide a missing link to build distributed quantum computing clusters and future quantum networks, and can also be used to unlock quantum-enhanced sensitivity for a wide range of sensing applications (radar, MRI,…).
As a Quantum Engineer (Theory) you will collaborate within our R&D team in all necessary development stages of our quantum devices. In particular, you contribute to the theoretical foundations of our quantum technologies and their applications, and drive the exploration of the architectural and information theoretic possibilities enabled by such devices.
Minimum qualifications
– PhD or Master’s degree in physics, engineering physics, quantum engineering, a related field or equivalent practical experience
– Experience with theory of quantum circuits and quantum systems
– Experience in modelling of superconducting circuits and/or MEOS (micro-electro-optic systems)
– Knowledge of quantum and classical noise models impacting quantum device performance, and theory of open quantum systems
– Knowledge of quantum information
– Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, including theory and experimental profiles
– Flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks in a startup environment
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Proficiency in English; French and German are a plus
Preferred qualifications
– Experience with Python and related quantum software packages (e.g. QuTiP, Qiskit etc.)
– Experience with quantum-coherent, bidirectional microwave-to-optical transducers
– Experience with quantum frequency conversion
– Experience with control and characterization of superconducting quantum systems/qubits
– Experience working in a (similar) technical role in industry or startup environment
