The continuing miniaturization and integration of information technologies requires a better understanding and control of the quantum nature of matter that becomes dominant at the (sub) nm scale. By exploiting quantum effects, such as coherence and entanglement, we can create new and innovative devices and materials that will shape the future of technology and positively impact society as a whole.
The QMat “initiative of excellence” (qmat.unistra.fr) is an international integrated MSc and PhD program of the University of Strasbourg, which prepares the next generation of scientists and engineers to shape the future in quantum science and nanotechnology. We provide a challenging and engaging curriculum spanning fundamental and applied aspects and put students at the forefront of international research at the interfaces between physics, material science, chemistry and engineering.
The QMat program brings together four cross-disciplinary research institutes and five specializations at the M2 (second year master) level combined with extended research projects. The program is taught in the English language. As a QMat student you will learn from world leading experts in fundamental and applied quantum science and nanotechnology and profit from enhanced networking opportunities including international and industrial internships.
We are announcing up to 15 “Q-Master” scholarships at both the M1 (first year) and M2 (second year) Master levels for outstanding candidates with a BSc degree (or equivalent). Applications open in January/February (international students) and April/May each year (local and EU students).
